Join us as we celebrate the Freer|Sackler Galleries reopening!
African Art Open House and Game Night!
The Freer|Sackler Galleries are reopening, and we re celebrating! As a part of IlluminAsia, the National Museum of African Art will host a full day and night! of programming exploring the connections between Africa and Asia. #IlluminAsiaFS
Freer|Sackler will reopen beginning at 6 p.m., but come by African Art next door early for storytelling, a henna station, a fun workshop just for kids, and docent-led tours throughout the day. Then, stick around for an incredible evening of art, games, and food! Like our neighbor galleries, African Art will be open late. Until 10 p.m., visit African Art s incredible collection while enjoying curator talks, African board games (including bao from the Indian Ocean region), more henna, and free Ethiopian coffee, Kenyan and Moroccan tea, and snacks. And don t miss the chance to witness a real Ethiopian coffee ceremony and to hear a kora performance!
