Many of the artists featured in Ten Americans: After Paul Klee not only used line as the basis for their drawing but also considered the act of drawing itself a fundamental necessity for creativity.
Barbara Bernstein, a practicing artist teaching at UVA, will lead a drawing workshop devoted to encouraging concentration and awareness through the use of simple drawing and perception exercises. No prior experience in drawing is necessary. The aim is for participants to feel refreshed, alert, and open, utilizing skills acquired in the workshop in their daily lives: before a job interview or exam, for example, or simply relax. With just a pencil and paper, these exercises can be used anywhere at any time.
