EAST workshops are suitable for children ages 7-12!

Karen Cohen worked as an AmeriCorps volunteer for three years of service as a Child Advocate in a shelter for domestic violence in rural West Virginia. She created an after-school program called, The Chit Chat Club, employing drawing, painting and storytelling. Concentrating on art allowed the children to open up, share stories while relaxing and expressing their creative instincts , she explains. She taught the same art program for the Salvation Army afterschool program in Charlotte, NC with the Charlotte Art League.

A professional photographer by trade, Cohen uses various art techniques she learned at the Art Institute and various art courses over the years. She prefers bright colors, geometrical shapes to create expressive art work. Her award-winning photographs are currently exhibited throughout DC, including the Hill Center, and around the country.
