Join us for our first ever dramatic writing class, taught by award-winning playwright Renee Calarco, and try your hand at playwriting.

Do you imagine fantastic stories and scenarios in your head? Do you hear vivid characters talking to each other wish individual voices? Do you wish you had the tools and skills to put these scenes and dialogues down on paper? Join us for our first ever dramatic writing class, taught by award-winning playwright Renee Calarco, and try your hand at playwriting.

The class will meet for six sessions, during which time students will cover the basics of playwriting. Using prompts, guided exercises, and occasional on-your-feet devising work, the group will explore the specific skills that go into writing dynamic and engaging dramatic text (including writing believable dialogue, establishing stakes and conflict, and developing interesting characters). The work will culminate in the development of a 10-15 minute short play, which will be read out loud by professional actors in the final session of the class. This unique opportunity will allow you to experience the very first stage of the rehearsal process, which ultimately brings a playwright s vision to life.
